Our ballet curriculum is based on classical ballet, which is the foundation for all other dance forms.
LEVEL ONE (Ages 3-4): A program developed for the young dancer that focuses on coordination and rhythm. Students are exposed to ballet terminology such as plié, relevé, chassé, and passé explained in terms the young dancer will remember.
LEVEL TWO (Ages 5-6): Students work primarily in first and second position. Correct body placement is emphasized at the beginning of each class. Students learn the five basic ballet positions of arms and feet. Typical exercises include: pliés, tendus, dégagés, rond de jambe, and grande battemante.
LEVEL THREE (Ages 7-10): Barre exercises are extended to include frappé and fondu. Easy stretches at the barre are introduced. Students learn chaine and soutenu turns and begin preparation for pique turns.
LEVEL FOUR (Ages 13-15): Students learn to memorize longer combinations of dance steps. Begin pointe technique starting slowly at the barre. The amount of time spent dancing on point is increased.
